The Mississippi Gem and Mineral Society is a non-profit corporation organized in 1957 and chartered in 1958 with fourteen charter members. Its purpose is to promote knowledge and enjoyment of activities related to the earth sciences. Society activities focus on rocks, minerals, fossils, lapidary, and jewelry making. Our members enjoy educational and entertaining meetings, field trips for collecting specimens, classes in lapidary and jewelry making, and special events.

Mark your calendar for the 49th Annual Gem, Mineral, Fossil, and Jewelry Show. February 23-24, 2008. The 49th Annual Show, marks the 50th Anniversary of the Society's charter. This year's theme is "GOLD". Read about what you can expect as you visit the Show. Rocky Echoes is an award winning monthly newsletter published to keep members updated and informed about MGMS and the rockhound hobby.
Rock School classes covering all aspects of the hobby are scheduled regularly, lapidary equipment, and the MGMS Library are also located at the facility.
